Recently, SlowMist, Amber Group, and RigSec were invited to conduct a specialized training session for the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) of the Hong Kong Police Force. The training focused on smart contract analysis and cryptocurrency tracking.

This training not only reflects the Hong Kong Police Force’s open mindset and forward-looking approach to emerging technologies but also demonstrates their solid efforts and proactive actions in combating crimes related to virtual assets and safeguarding the legitimate rights of the public. The Hong Kong Police Force is continuously strengthening its professional skills and actively incorporating external practical experiences, laying the foundation for a safer virtual asset environment through tangible actions.

With the global development of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, the financial innovation and efficiency improvements it brings have garnered significant attention. However, the accompanying security risks are becoming increasingly complex: from fund theft, money laundering to new forms of online fraud, a growing number of cybercrimes have emerged. Managing these risks presents numerous challenges, such as the information gap between on-chain and off-chain data, the ubiquity of anonymous transactions, and the difficulties of cross-border law enforcement, all of which place higher demands on regulation and law enforcement.

Against this backdrop, SlowMist’s training for the Hong Kong Police Force covered multiple dimensions, including risk identification and analysis in smart contracts, cryptocurrency tracking path analysis, and on-chain data processing. Throughout the training, members of the police force actively engaged in discussions and exchanges. This in-depth interaction not only reflected their keen insight and responsiveness in addressing cybercrime but also showcased Hong Kong’s professional commitment to virtual asset security governance, setting a positive example for regional collaboration.

After the training, 23pds, SlowMist’s Chief Information Security Officer, received a certificate of appreciation from the Hong Kong Police Force on behalf of the company and awarded completion certificates to the participating officers, further deepening the exchange and collaboration between the two parties in the field of blockchain security.

As one of the leading units in this training, SlowMist has always been at the forefront of security offense and defense and actively participates in the promotion of blockchain security standards, both national and international. Its research achievements have been cited by several international organizations and government departments, including the United Nations Security Council and the UNODC. SlowMist has accumulated extensive experience in areas such as security audits, threat intelligence, anti-money laundering tracking, and on-chain risk control. The company is also continuously applying this experience through productization, creating the SlowMist AML solution (https://aml.slowmist.com), which aims to provide cryptocurrency anti-money laundering analysis and investigation capabilities for the Web3 industry, regulatory and law enforcement agencies, and financial institutions. Additionally, MistEye (https://misteye.io/) provides users with comprehensive Web3 threat intelligence and dynamic security monitoring services, enhancing the ecosystem’s early warning and response capabilities.

SlowMist firmly believes that the world of blockchain is not a “no man’s land,” but rather an ecosystem that requires the collective protection of all parties. Through each training and collaboration, we aim to convert practical experience into knowledge and further transform it into capabilities, empowering more institutions to acquire the necessary security protection and tracking skills, thus strengthening the ecosystem’s immunity. We believe that only through collaborative efforts, information sharing, and joint capacity building can we truly enhance users’ sense of security in the on-chain world. This training for the Hong Kong Police Force is also a concrete manifestation of SlowMist’s mission to “bring security to the blockchain ecosystem.” We look forward to joining hands with more partners to build a more robust, transparent, and trustworthy blockchain ecosystem.

Finally, we would like to once again thank the Hong Kong Police Force for their invitation and trust!
