Event Recap|SlowMist Recognized by Invest HK Fintech as “Must-Know” 2024
On October 28, the 9th annual Hong Kong Fintech Week 2024 officially launched at Asia World-Expo in Hong Kong. Organized by Invest Hong Kong, alongside the Hong Kong Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB), and co-hosted by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), and the Hong Kong Insurance Authority (IA), this premier event brought together over 35,000 global participants from more than 100 industries under the theme, “Illuminating New Pathways in Fintech.”
Recognized as one of the world’s flagship fintech events, this year’s Fintech Week drew senior representatives from major technology firms in China and abroad. The event featured over 800 speakers, with exhibitors and sponsors sparking discussions and sharing insights that continue to shape the industry’s future.
In the opening remarks, Financial Secretary Paul Chan highlighted Hong Kong’s significant strides in becoming an international fintech hub, now home to over 1,100 companies focused on AI, Web3, and blockchain applications. FSTB Secretary Christopher Hui announced plans to release stablecoin regulatory guidelines by year’s end and initiate the second phase of consultations on virtual asset OTC regulation in 2025. HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue emphasized digital development’s role in the region’s growth, unveiling initiatives including HKMA’s partnerships with the central banks of Brazil and Thailand, as well as collaborative efforts with the People’s Bank of China to connect Hong Kong’s fast-payment system with mainland China’s online banking payment systems. InvestHK Director Stephen Phillips highlighted that per Hong Kong’s 2024 Policy Address, the city is set to advance CBDC cross-border applications, enhance virtual asset regulations, and foster tokenized real-world assets, digital currency ecosystems, and digital securities markets.
Amid the event’s dynamic activities, SlowMist received Invest HK Fintech’s prestigious “Must-Know” 2024 recognition. Keywolf, SlowMist Partner & CPO, delivered a keynote on SlowMist’s expertise in blockchain security and crypto Anti-Money Laundering (AML). He shared, “Our security audit services cover Web3 smart contract safety as well as traditional Web2 cybersecurity, including red team testing, and we offer security consulting, emergency response, and on-chain monitoring.
